Upcoming Changes to USCIS Filing Fees: What You Need to Know
USCIS is updating the way filing fees can be paid, moving toward safer and more modern electronic payment options. These changes are meant to streamline the process and reduce delays—but it’s important to start preparing early so your application isn’t held up.
Important Date: October 28, 2025
Beginning October 28, 2025, USCIS will no longer accept paper checks or money orders for paper applications.
After this date, payments for any paper-filed forms must be made using one of the following:
ACH debit using Form G-1650
Credit card using Form G-1450
We encourage clients to start getting familiar with these new payment methods now, so everything goes smoothly when you’re ready to file.
New Payment Option: ACH Debit (Form G-1650)
USCIS now allows you to pay directly from your U.S. bank account through an ACH debit.
To use this method:
Complete and sign Form G-1650, Authorization for ACH Transactions
Submit it together with your application or petition when filing by paper
This option is already available and can be a convenient, secure alternative to traditional checks.
Credit Card Payments Still Accepted (Form G-1450)
If you prefer using a credit card, this option remains available for paper filings.
Simply:
Complete and sign Form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transactions
Include it with your paper application
This method has been used for years and continues to be a quick and easy payment option.
No Changes for Online Filings
If you submit your application online through your USCIS account, nothing changes for you.
Online payments will continue to work the same way.
