Leslie was born in Zacatecas, Mexico to hard-working immigrant parents. She quickly found a passion for serving her immigrant community as she witnessed sacrifices her parents made. Although her work experiences range in different fields, she always felt called to help the immigrant community. Joining the SIL team, she is excited to continue to serve her community and help amplify their voices.

She is a DACA recipient and holds a double major in Sociology and Spanish from Cardinal Stritch University. During her time there, she sat on the board of DREAMers , welcoming and helping others through changes and challenges DACA recipients and undocumented students face as well as sharing different resources available. Forming part of this organization deepened her passion and desire to be involved with the community.

In her free time, you will find her reading, exploring local coffee shops, thrifting, and spending time with family, friends and her two dogs
